London-born, Azaad grew up through the formative era of early dubstep. Becoming naturally curious in the dub, reggae, jungle and UKG roots, the natural progression as a young raver brought him from fabric Fridays to Saturdays, absorbing the house royalty years of the 2010’s.

DJ’ing emerged naturally, initially by being the tastemaker at the afters and later pushed into collecting records by friends and family around him. A gift of his first decks from his partner, along with foundational production mentorship from Justin Drake (Peace Division), set the path forward. Today, he runs Born2BeFree, a vinyl and digital label that tops the charts of major record distributors all around Europe, time and time again. 

His sound is rooted in house, shaped by both the UK’s rhythmic undercurrent, and his turkish/south asian heritage. These cultural themes are shaping his forthcoming studio Album: rooted in low-end heavy elements, a slinky feel, sample-driven production techniques ensuring a signature sexy, rolling energy. Inspirations run deep from artists he now calls friends; Benny Rodrigues, for his ability to move seamlessly between major rooms and stripped-back basements, to Brawther, for his commitment to depth and seriousness and guiding force. Azaad also cites D’julz for three decades of staying true to the OG grooves, and Tristan da Cunha, a mentor who provided the platform and pressure needed to sharpen his skills.

With past appearances at institutions like Fabric, Koko, Shelter Amsterdam, Sisyphos, 93 Feet East, SlapFunk, DungeonFunk, Rossi’s Homegrxwn,  Golden Pudel Hamburg, Lion & Lamb, After Caposile, The Loft Manchester, Progress Centre, Distrikt Leeds, 528 Ibiza and more.  He’s building a career defined not by short-lived cycles, but by longevity. The mission has always been a sustainable rhythm between studio output and dancefloor energy, always prioritising quality over quantity. A versatile artist rooted in underground spaces, but confident in the bigger rooms when the moment calls.
